    CHILD CARE EDUCATOR
    Position Purpose:

    As an early childhood educator, you will provide a stimulating, safe, and nurturing environment for children ages 1 month to 6 years old. The child care supervisor contributes to the mission and vision by providing qualified and culturally sensitive child care support for children.

    Accountability:

    Under the supervision of the director, the child care worker is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the program and ongoing supervision of the children as a member of the child care team.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Responsible for the constant supervision, safety and well-being of all children
    • Prepare the room appropriately before the children arrive, and be ready to accept and supervise the children at the scheduled time
    • Check children for injuries and illness as they arrive
    • Participates in regular fire drills and other emergency procedures.
    • Maintains and delivers quality care to all children and families regardless of personal issues, distractions, or difficulty of situation in a professional manner.
    • Engages in positive collaboration with the other programs and early childhood educators of the center in coordinating the effective use of equipment, facilities, and personnel.
    • Shares in the responsibility for planning, preparing, and implementing stimulating, age-appropriate activities that encourage children’s creativity and learning and promote each child’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
    • Supervise the children’s daily activities and routines; put infants to sleep when necessary
    • Monitor the children’s behavior and intervene as needed, responding sensitively to the cultural heritage, values and individual experiences of the children
    • Inspect and maintain toys and equipment, and assume an equal share of housekeeping responsibilities
    • Monitor all entrances and exits at all times
    • Communicate with parents about any specifics related to their children as needed

    Required Competencies & Qualifications:
    • Diploma in Early Learning & Child Care (level 1, 2, 3)
    • Current first aid and CPR certification appropriate to children
    • Ability to work in a team environment.
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills; must be able to develop and maintain a rapport with parents.
    • Clean Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check
    Contract length:

    Job Types: Full-time, Casual, Contract

    Salary: $17.00-$21.00 per hour
